Four nights in a Longhouse & Two nights camping

The Vancouver Island Surf trip is all about getting back to nature and sharing new exciting experiences with a small group of friends. On this adventure you will get to surf in the wilderness with no crowds, walk in old growth forests, check out beaches on cruiser bikes, gain traditional indigenous knowledge, have campfires on the beach, and sleep in a First Nation Longhouse.

Newcastle Island

Our meet and greet is in Nanaimo than it's a quick ferry ride to Newcasle Island Provincial Park.  There will be orientation, activities to get to know one another, a welcome dinner at a floating restaurant, a campfire, a chance to check out phosphorescense at night and see albino raccoons.  
Accommodation:  Oceanside Campsite (One night)

Pacific Rim National Park

After a night on Newcastle, its back to Vancouver Island to head to the west coast.  Once on the west coast will we spend our afternoon on Long Beach in the Pacific Rim National Park, have dinner in Tofino, and then depart for Hesquiat Harbour where true wilderness awaits us.  Hesquiat Harbour is an hour and a half water taxi and while on the boat, you may see grey whales, eagles, porpoises, bears, and sea otters.

Hesquiat Harbour

Hesquiat Harbour is located in the northern section of Clayoquot Sound and is boat or float plan access only.  Here, we will be spending our time at Hooksum Outdoor School surfing, kayaking, hiking, and learning about Hesquiat First Nation. You will have the opportunity to take four surf lessons with a ceritified surf instructor, hike to a fresh water lake, explore the coastal eco system by kayak, walk in an old growth forest, and have campfires on the beach.

Tofino

After our four incredible days at Hooksum Outdoor school, it is time to say goodbye to the wilderness and head back to Tofino. Tofino, known for its surf, beaches, wildlife, & rainforests is where we will be spending our last night. Our mode of transportation will be beach cruiser bikes as we check out the bike trails, ride on the beaches, and explore the village.

Optional Activity: Chartered Fishing Trip

Tofino has some of the best Salmon and Halibut fishing in British Columbia and we will be organizing an optional half day chartered fishing trip for those particpants interested in this activity.  The cost of this activity in not included in the price and will be an additional expense.  If you would like more information, please get in touch with us.
