Pack your bags and get ready to spend seven exciting days camping on Vancouver Island. Go to surf school in Tofino, see a sunset from an ocean kayak, explore Quadra Island on a bike tour, hike in Strathcona Park and have a week filled with friends, beaches, campfires and lots of activities! During this trip, you will see both the west and east coasts of Vancouver Island as well as visiting Quadra and Newcastle Islands.
Rathtrevor Provincial Park / Parksville
After our our meet and greet in Nanaimo, we will travel a short distance to our first stop - Rathtrevor Provincial Park - where we will camp for one night. This day is all about getting to know one another and being comfortable in the group. Our time will be spent enjoying the fabulous beach and playing a variety of games.
Tofino
From Rathtrevor Beach, we head to the west coast of the island. Along the way we visit Cathedral Grove to walk amongst 800 year old giant Douglas Firs and Cedar trees and stop at beautiful Sproat Lake for lunch and a swim. After Sproat Lake, it is on to Tofino, a laid back surf town where we will spend two nights. Tofino offers miles of sandy beaches, amazing rainforests, wildlife and lots of surf...a true paradise. Here you will have the opportunity to go to surf school, explore the area, and have fun on the beaches.
Mt. Washington / Strathcona Provincial Park
Leaving Tofino we travel to Mt. Washington Alpine Resort where we spend the afternoon hiking in Strathcona Park (we walk on trails that are suitable for all abilities). Once the hike is completed, it is time for some friendly competition, it is our frisbee golf tournament...alpine style.
Quadra Island
A quick ten minute ferry ride from Campbell River brings us to Quadra Island where we will camp for the next two nights. While on Quadra Island, explore the island's trails on a bike tour (trails are suitable for all levels of riders), swim at Rebecca spit, go for an early morning hike and experience the marine life while ocean kayaking at sunset.
Newcastle Island
Our last stop-over on this trip is Newcastle Island, a little gem in Nanaimo harbour. This is a fantastic island to explore and our last night will be spent with a large BBQ and campfire.
